President AFWWA
Air Force Wives Welfare Association
Air Force Wives Welfare Association is the core welfare organisation for the ladies of the Air Force. Apart from providing innumerable benefits to its members, it provides an excellent forum for meaningful and fruitful interactions.

AFWWA was formed on 28th October, 1970 as a registered body to provide assistance to the families of deceased / disabled/ retired / serving personnel of the Indian Air Force. AFWWA also extends its helping hand to poor and needy people of the society. Its willing contribution to the senior citizens, special children, orphans etc. is praiseworthy and worth emulating.

Objectives: The Air Force Wives Welfare Association was formed with the main objective of providing assistance to families of deceased, disabled, retired, as well as serving personnel of the Indian Air Force. Over the years its sphere of work has widened considerably. The main focus of the Association is on family welfare and rehabilitation/care of widows and special children. It has taken special steps to identify itself with some of the national welfare projects by successfully perusing such programmes as Adult Literacy and Preservation of Environment. Besides helping our country men effected by natural calamities, AFWWA has adopted villages around the Air Force bases which lack basic amenities. It organises health camps at regular intervals with the help of specialists from Air Force and Civil Hospitals for check-up and treatment of ailing persons. READ MORE >>>

President AFWWA

Mrs Madhubaala Naik was born on 25 Dec and has spent her early years in Nagpur. After her graduation she has been teaching at a number of schools, whilst efficiently managing the demands of her home and husband's career.

Mrs Naik has always been an active member of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA), in various capacities. She has been a member of Advisory Council of Air Force Schools and has been involved in several important projects for special children. Welfare of the families of air warriors is very close to her heart and she has worked towards improving the quality of life of Sanginis. Her focus has been on empowerment and equipping the women to handle the challenges of life, by providing them practical education in English, computers and vocational activity. Whilst at HQ Central Air Command, Allahabad, she was involved in providing free education to a large body of underprivileged children.

Mrs Naik has held the appointment of Vice President AFWWA (R), Western Air Command and was President AFWWA (R), Central Air Command, Allahabad prior to taking over as President AFWWA.

A caring wife, doting mother and an efficient homemaker, Mrs Naik's interests include listening to Indian Classical music and reading books. Air Chief Marshal & Mrs Naik are blessed with two sons. The elder son is a pilot in the Indian Air Force and the younger son is a Chief Officer in the Merchant Navy.
Vice President

Mrs Arundhati Barbora was born on 10 Jan at Indore. She spent last three years of her school life in Shillong. Being from a Defence service background she travelled extensively to various parts of the country since childhood. She is an arts graduate and has done course in freelance journalism.

She is a multifaceted personality with a very wide range of experience in teaching, journalism, acting in theatre group and has also worked as Office Manager, Secretary of Indian Women's Association and President of Air Attaché Wives Association in Moscow. She has been associated with welfare activities throughout.

As President of Air force Wives Association (L) at Tezpur, she contributed towards improvement of facilities and opportunities to ensure well being of families of Air Warriors. She undertook welfare and educational activities for the underprivileged villagers staying around Air Force Camp. She has been very closely associated with the improvement of educational standards in the AF Camp. During the period when she was President AFWWA (L), AF school Tezpur was adjudged the best primary school in IAF.

She is very keen in cultural activities and organises the same in a very professional manner. She conducted adult literacy classes for women at Hindon. She was also a part of the 'Emotional Support Group' for Cancer patients in R&R Hospital, New Delhi. She encouraged the concept of thrift shop as an outlet for handiwork of Sanginis (AFWWA members) when functioning as the Secretary of AFWWA (L) Bagdogra and encouraged Air Force wives to keep their handicraft items in the local AFWWA shops.

Married to Air Marshal PK Barbora she is the proud mother of a son who is a professional golfer and a happily married daughter who is a financial analyst.
